Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Classic Science Fiction Archive (the “Catalogue”) at llaje.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Catalogue.
Lawful Personal Use
The Catalogue is provided for lawful, personal, non-commercial enjoyment and study. You may browse, read, download, and share individual works for personal or educational purposes, provided you do not misrepresent the source or alter the editorial content. Sharing should be limited to reasonable, non-systematic distribution, such as recommending a title to a friend or using an excerpt in a classroom discussion. Systematic redistribution, such as republishing the entire Catalogue or substantial portions on another site, is not permitted without prior written approval.
Prohibited Misuse
You may not use the Catalogue for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the service. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:
- Automated scraping, data mining, or bulk extraction of content without prior written permission.
- Interfering with the security or proper functioning of the site.
- Uploading or transmitting viruses, malware, or harmful code.
- Attempting to access restricted areas or user accounts.
- Engaging in any activity that imposes an unreasonable load on the infrastructure.
Bibliographic and Transcription Limitations
The Catalogue offers digital editions based on public-domain sources. While every effort is made to ensure accuracy, transcriptions and editorial notes may contain errors or omissions. Bibliographic information is provided for reference and may not be complete. The Catalogue makes no representation that any work is in the public domain in every jurisdiction. Users are encouraged to consult original print sources or authoritative archives for scholarly verification. LLAJE Catalogue reviews and corrects known issues, but cannot guarantee that all errors are resolved.
Copyright and Public-Domain Status
Works in the Catalogue are believed to be in the public domain in their country of origin. However, copyright laws vary internationally. You are responsible for verifying the legal status of any work before using it in a manner that may be restricted by local law. Some editorial content, introductions, and annotations may be subject to copyright held by the catalogue project or contributors. For example, reading guides such as those for Diplomatic Immunity or The Planet Savers represent original commentary and should not be reproduced without attribution. Where a work includes a note indicating renewed copyright or uncertain status, users should exercise additional caution.
User Responsibility
You are solely responsible for your use of the Catalogue and for compliance with all applicable laws. The Catalogue does not guarantee that any content is suitable for any particular purpose or that it is free from inaccuracies. If you choose to download or print works, you assume all risks associated with such use. The Catalogue is not responsible for any consequences arising from the use of its content, including but not limited to reliance on editorial interpretations or bibliographic data.
Third-Party Links
The Catalogue may contain links to external websites. These are provided for convenience only, and the Catalogue does not endorse or assume responsibility for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites. Users should review the terms and policies of any third-party site they visit.
Technical Availability
The Catalogue is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or the preservation of user settings or bookmarks. We may suspend or modify the service at any time without notice. While we strive to maintain reliable access, occasional downtime for maintenance or unforeseen issues may occur.
Editorial Notes and Presentation
Editorial notes, reading guides, and categorisations (such as “Space Future” or “Social Speculation”) are interpretive and intended to enrich the reader’s experience. They do not constitute literary criticism or definitive analysis. The presentation of works may change over time as new editions or corrections are introduced. Categories are meant as navigational aids and should not be taken as exhaustive or exclusive classifications.
Rights-Holder Notices
If you believe that any content on the Catalogue infringes your copyright or other rights, please contact the catalogue project at editor@llaje.com with sufficient information to evaluate your claim. We will review and take appropriate action, which may include removal of the disputed content or addition of a clarifying notice. To help us process your notice efficiently, please include a description of the work, the specific location on the site, and your contact information.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Catalogue and its editor disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. The Catalogue does not warrant that the content is accurate, reliable, or current. No oral or written information provided by the Catalogue or its editor shall create a warranty.
Limitation of Liability
In no event shall the Catalogue or its editor be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Catalogue, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so this limitation may not apply to you.
Suspension of Abusive Access
We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access to any user who violates these Terms or engages in abusive behaviour, without prior notice and at our sole discretion. Abusive behaviour includes, but is not limited to, repeated infringement of copyright, harassment of other users, or attempts to compromise site security.
Service Changes
We may update, modify, or discontinue the Catalogue, in whole or in part, at any time. We are not obligated to maintain or restore any content removed during such changes. Users are encouraged to keep personal copies of any content they wish to preserve.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be reformed to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.
If you have questions about these Terms, please contact editor@llaje.com.
